Valley Par 4 – Gold 360 Blue 335 White 313 Copper 282 Green 258

MVCC’s Valley hole is the beginning of a stretch of eight holes (6-13) where Raynor reveals his revered routing skills and uncanny ability to utilize the primary features of a property, to naturally place his iconic hole designs.  The sixth hole is a severe dogleg left where the fairway slopes down to the bottom of the valley and the green site sits perched atop the steep slope rising up the other side. As usual options are provided off the tee: a conservative shot to the right of the fairway bunker leaves a longer approach shot off a downhill lie, or an aggressive shot over the corner of the dogleg gaining a shorter approach possibly from a level lie.

The large diabolical green has steep fall offs short, left, and long. The putting surface slopes severely back to front in the first two-thirds, while the final third slopes away to the back. A wedge for your “second putt” is possible here, perhaps after using your range finder! MVCC’s Valley hole mirrors Raynor’s eleventh hole at North Shore CC.
